Application Support Specialist (SQL, Citrix, Oracle, Agile, GIS)

A leading business in the local government space are looking to hire an Application Support Specialist (SQL, Citrix, Oracle, Agile, GIS) to work in a small Product team and be responsible for system stability, maintenance and enhancements for a portfolio of “line of business” Applications. You will be the Technical SME for the assigned Application portfolio.  This will require a strong understanding of the technology products, interfaces, the underlying architecture and the business processes. The Application Support Specialist (SQL, Citrix, Oracle, Agile, GIS) will act as an escalation point for queries and lead implementations of new functionality.  You will also continually evaluate and recommend system and/or data enhancements to existing solutions and processes.


Responsibilities for Application Support Specialist (SQL, Citrix, Oracle, Agile, GIS)

Provide technical assistance, application support, usage advice and guidance to customers and third parties
Support all elements of the Application lifecycle, from implementation to decommission
Lead the technical implementation of new functionality/releases, including management of supplier resources and outputs
Lead technical workshops (requirements, design, etc.) and reviews with project teams (including with suppliers)
Provide test plans and system testing for upgrades
Assist with UAT and assist project teams with SME and project implementation support
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and completion of audits
Analyse changes, prepare appropriate release/change documentation according to approved processes, and ensure that all changes and releases follow the approved processes
Work closely with customers at an SME level supporting queries around specific application(s)
Investigate and diagnose system faults and errors to resolve technical issues.  Collaborate with colleagues in ICT Product Delivery and Infrastructure teams for more complex and significant issues
Escalate incidents and problems encountered within an Application to our software suppliers and implement the resolution
Provide support and expertise to projects and enhancements to ensure successful Service Transition into Production support.
Provide training to users as needed.

Requirements for Application Support Specialist (SQL, Citrix, Oracle, Agile, GIS)

Demonstrable track record of developing and supporting line of business applications with a large user base
A working knowledge of business applications, interfaces (including APIs) and business processes
Strong understanding of the Project Lifecycle and Development Lifecycle
Experience working in an Agile development environment
Good understanding of ITIL framework
Proven experience of successful incident management and troubleshooting, collaboratively working with IT colleagues, service experts and third-party suppliers
Ability to translate technical jargon into easy to understand and clear terms
